The Chicago hospitality company made the announcement on Wednesday, noting it expected the project to wrap up late this year.

“We are thrilled to announce Grand Hyatt DFW will undergo a transformation to provide international and domestic travelers and local residents with new, more refined accommodations, enhanced culinary experiences and modernized conference and event spaces for meetings and groups,” said Jeff Babcock, general manager of the airport hotel, in a statement.

The first phase of the $34 million renovation will increase the number of rooms from 298 to 315. Culinary Enhancements

Renovations will also increase seating capacity at the airport hotel’s Grand Met restaurant and lounge bar. Newly designed private and semi-private dining rooms are also slated for the restaurant alongside revamped seasonal menus. The company noted it will serve locally sourced international and modern cuisine.

Meeting and Event Spaces

The final phase of renovations at the Grand Hyatt DFW Airport will deliver a top-floor executive boardroom for meetings. An indoor/outdoor rooftop event space is also planned overlooking the airport runways. Quality-of-life technological improvements will be made to the hotel’s 20,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces, which include in-house audiovisual capabilities.

DFW Airport Expansion

The Grand Hyatt renovations fall alongside the airport’s $9 billion “DFW Forward” capital improvement plan, which includes the expansion of Terminal A, the reconstruction and expansion of Terminal C and the addition of its sixth terminal, Terminal F.

“The remodeled Grand Hyatt — already known as one of the premier airport hotel experiences — will complement the ongoing enhancements and expansions across the airport as we create a smooth and enjoyable experience for our guests,” said DFW CEO Sean Donohue in a statement.
