According to DFR spokesperson Jason Evans, units were dispatched about 4 a.m. Tuesday, after a 911 caller reported smoke coming from an apartment building in the 1600 block of John West Road. Evans said arriving units saw flames coming from the roof of a three-story building.
Evans said between 60 and 70 firefighters worked for almost two hours to extinguish the blaze, which was put out about 5:55 a.m. While the building contained 24 units, only five were occupied, Evans said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, Evans said. No injuries were reported from the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Evans said.
