Texas Rangers’ Hot Start to the 2025 Season
Aside from a few pesky injuries so far, it’s hard to imagine the Texas Rangers could have asked for a better start to the 2025 season.
Their hot start continued Sunday afternoon as they completed a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays with some late-inning theatrics.
A Strong Performance by the Rangers
After Kumar Rocker’s strong bounce-back start and Corey Seager’s first home run of the year, the Rangers carried a 3-1 lead into the eighth inning. But the Rays rallied in the top of the eighth, tying the game with a pair of runs on a RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the ninth, Josh Smith hustled his way to a two-out double and Jonah Heim stepped up to the plate. Facing a 0-1 count, the Rangers’ catcher sent an 89 mph cutter back up the middle, scoring Smith and securing the Rangers’ eighth win of the season in walkoff fashion.
