Numerous homemade explosive devices were found Sunday in a wooded area near a park in Garland, authorities said.
A passerby walking around Wynne Park called police after finding an open suitcase with several items, some resembling explosives, scattered nearby around 11:30 a.m. Sunday near West Centerville Road and South First Street.
The Investigation
Garland’s bomb unit confirmed there were “numerous live homemade explosive devices near the suitcase,” police said in a news release Monday. Bomb technicians from the Garland Police Department and FBI worked into the night to disarm the devices.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
