The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Bailey Lake, according to a news release from the Burleson Police Department. When police arrived, they said they found a 17-year-old who had been shot multiple times in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
Police said he was taken to a hospital, where he died. Another 17-year-old boy had been shot at the scene. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. After speaking with him, police determined the shooting occurred during a “narcotics transaction” involving three others.
Investigation and Arrests
Officers were able to identify two of the three suspects. Police said they later arrested one 17-year-old male suspect who was found inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of his home in Burleson.
After he was detained, police said, the 17-year-old admitted in a statement to being involved in the shooting. He was taken to the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center and faces charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery.
Police said the second identified suspect and a third, still-unidentified suspect remain at large.
