Daryl “Razor” Reaugh Honored at Hockey Hall of Fame

The Dallas Stars’ longtime color analyst Daryl “Razor” Reaugh was honored at the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday as part of Induction Weekend. Reaugh won the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award given for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster. A former second round NHL draft pick as a player, “Razor” has served as the Stars’ TV and radio color analyst for the last 29 seasons.

Award and Recognition

“Daryl Reaugh has been a cornerstone of consistency and eloquence for Stars fans over decades,” Chuck Kaiton, president of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association said when the award was announced in May. “His unique approach to painting a vivid picture as he analyses the play brings life and enjoyment for all to hear. His use of language is nothing short of sheer wizardry. He has earned his place among the best NHL broadcasters.”

The award, which is given out by the NHL Broadcasters’ Association, has been handed out since 1984. As an award recipient, Reaugh is recognized by the Hockey Hall of Fame as a “Media Honouree” and his plaque will be displayed at the Hall of Fame’s Esso Great Hall alongside past winners.

Broadcasting Career

Reaugh’s broadcasting career began with the Hartford Whalers during the 1995-96 season before he made his way to North Texas. He has also worked on national broadcasts for a variety of national outlets, including ABC, ESPN, FOX and more.

The Stars announced they will honor Reaugh at the American Airlines Center ahead of the team’s Nov. 18 game against the New York Islanders.
