Triple Homicide Suspect Dies After Crashing into Buc-ee’s
The man accused in a triple homicide in Mabank, who later crashed into an Ennis Buc-ee’s, has died, according to a Henderson County sheriff’s office news release.
Christopher Kyle Reid Jr., 29, was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he crashed into an Ennis Buc-ee’s on Oct. 17, injuring a pedestrian, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Reid was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in critical condition, an Oct. 18 news release from the sheriff’s office said. The release Monday did not say what day Reid was pronounced dead.

On Oct. 17, Henderson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in Mabank, where they found several people with gunshot wounds. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and another died at a hospital.
According to a news release, officials identified Reid as a suspect in connection to the shooting in Mabank, about 55 miles outside Dallas in Henderson and Kaufman counties.

Officials identified the victims who were fatally shot as Kimberly Simpson, 51; Connie Patrick, 72; and Rodney Hammonds, 57.
Two additional men — Colton Reid, 24, and Henry Hopgood, 70 — were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, the release said.
The Crash at Buc-ee’s
Several hours after the shooting, Reid crashed a maroon 2003 Dodge Caravan into the southwest entrance of the Buc-ee’s in Ennis, then shot himself.
As of Monday afternoon, Hopgood remained hospitalized but was awake and alert, and Colton Reid had been released.
