Sueño Mexican Restaurant to Open Second Location in Snider Plaza
A popular Mexican food restaurant started in Richardson will add a second location in the Dallas area’s Snider Plaza in early 2026. Sueño serves polished Mexican dishes, such as birria tacos and aguachile de camaron, and creative cocktails inspired by Mexico City. At the Richardson location, brunch is popular.
About Sueño and Its Founders
The founders of Sueño, Julio Pineda and Cristian Lujano, teamed up with the Bellomy Hospitality Group to bring the concept to University Park. Even if its name is not immediately familiar, the concepts the family business owns are to North Texas diners: Rex’s Seafood and S&D Oyster Co. The group is also behind newly opened New Orleans-inspired lounge Caché, located above S&D Oyster Co. in Uptown Dallas.
New Location Details
The second location of Sueño spans more than 6,250 feet, and includes a dining room, patio and lounge. With live-fire cookery, the large space, once the site of Peggy Sue BBQ, will span beyond a dining room to include a patio and a speakeasy-style lounge. The Sueño team partnered with Mexican architects JSa of Mexico City and ch_Studio of Arlington to develop the concept.
Previous Plans for the Location
Sueño’s future home at 6600 Snider Plaza was originally slated to be a coastal Italian restaurant called Montecito’s from D-FW restaurateur Hunter Pond.
Other Restaurants in Snider Plaza
Upon opening, Sueño will mark the third Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant in Snider Plaza. Bandito’s Tex Mex Cantina, a casual spot nestled between Kuby’s and seafood joint Half Shells, was joined earlier this month by El Molino, a high-end Mexican concept from Pond’s Vandelay Hospitality Group. Other newcomers to Snider Plaza include Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, an approachable spot open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Bar Sardine, a French bistro also from Vandelay Hospitality Group. Coffee shop and convenience store Foxtrot reopened earlier this year.
