Support for Workers Impacted by Government Shutdown

Introduction to the Initiative

TGI Fridays is offering free meals to certain workers impacted by the ongoing government shutdown. The restaurant chain announced it will provide complimentary meals to Transportation Security Administration and air traffic control workers at all its U.S. locations from Oct. 9 through Oct. 23. The offer could potentially end sooner depending on when the shutdown ends.

Reason Behind the Initiative

“TSA and air traffic control workers keep our country moving, and we wanted to do our part to support them,” said Ray Blanchette, CEO of TGI Fridays, in a news release. “Whether they’re grabbing a meal at one of our airport locations during a shift or sitting down at a neighborhood Fridays after a long day, we want them to know we appreciate them and we’re here for them.”

Details of the Offer

Eligible employees can enjoy one free meal per day from a special menu comprised of popular TGI Fridays dishes, such as the signature cheeseburger with fries, chicken fingers with fries, crispy or grilled chicken sandwich with fries or a chicken Caesar salad.

Availability of the Offer

To receive the offer, workers need to show valid employee identification at any of TGI Fridays’ more than 80 locations nationwide. The offer is available both in traditional restaurant settings and at nontraditional venues, including in airports. The only exception applies to Atlanta airport locations, which are running a separate program for TSA workers.

Duration of the Offer

The complimentary meals will be available daily throughout the two-week period while supplies last, or until the shutdown ends.
