The Background

Authorities had been searching for Rodriguez-Singh for more than two years.

In March 2023, Everman police conducted a welfare check for Rodriguez-Singh’s 6-year-old son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, after family members reported he hadn’t been seen since October 2022.

Officials said Rodriguez-Singh allegedly lied to authorities about Noel’s whereabouts and told them he had been staying with his biological father in Mexico since November 2022.

However, the boy’s father later told police he was deported before Noel was born and hadnever met him, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.

Two days after speaking with investigators, Rodriguez-Singh, along with her husband and other children, boarded a flight and headed to India, the native country of Noel’s stepfather, Arshdeep Singh. Noel wasn’t listed as a passenger on the flight.

Authorities say they believe Rodriguez-Singh has not been back in the U.S. since.

Relatives and witnesses previously told police that Rodriguez-Singh abused Noel and referred to him as “evil, possessed or having a demon in him.”

Noel was diagnosed with several illnesses, including speech delay, esotropia in both eyes and chronic lung disease, among others.

Noel was presumed dead in April 2023 after a search of the family’s home led investigators to believe there were once human remains inside a shed on the property.
