Keith Kemp of Paris was shot by Carrollton officers after he threatened to shoot them and himself, ran away and then pointed a gun in the officers’ direction, Carrollton police said in a news release Wednesday.

Officers pulled Kemp over for a traffic violation around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of East Belt Line Road, police said.
During the stop, officers suspected use of narcotics and a drug investigation commenced, police said. Kemp then brandished a handgun and threatened to shoot himself, according to police.
