Micah Parsons-Jerry Jones standoff continues as Cowboys return to The Star in Frisco

Must read

Cowboys Training Camp Resumes

FRISCO – After 26 days in Oxnard, which consisted of 16 practices, the Cowboys will resume training camp on Tuesday and Wednesday at The Star before their final preseason game against Atlanta on a Friday night.

Micah Parsons’ status, meaning his hold-in, will continue.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer didn’t expect his best defensive player to change his stance of missing practice as he awaits a contract extension.

“I don’t expect there to be many changes, we’ll see, again, it was good to have all the guys back,” Schottenheimer said Monday. “I think we were excited to get back into a routine and I’m excited to be back here a little bit more of a routine. I kinda know where everything is, it’s comfortable. The biggest thing is we got a couple days to figure out this routine as we’re getting back into it. We’ll still be a little bit into training camp mode schedule, adjusted a little bit the next two days because of the late practices. But as far as Micah is concerned I don’t think there will be any changes.”

Micah Parsons’ Hold-In Continues

On Monday, Parsons was in the Cowboys’ locker room playing on the ping pong tables.

During the early stages of training camp practices, Parsons worked with the pass rushers. After he made his trade request on August 1, he spent one day getting treatment for a tight back instead of watching practice on the field.

He’s spent the late stages of camp watching practices from the sidelines alongside cornerback Trevon Diggs, who is rehabbing from knee surgery.

Parsons continues to attend meetings and walkthrough practice sessions. He even presented a birthday cake to defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, whose birthdays were on August 13.

Contract Talks Stall

Team owner Jerry Jones has said there is nothing new to report on contract talks. Jones repeatedly said Parsons is under contract, which he is.

Parsons is scheduled to earn $21.3 million on his fifth-year option.
