Introduction to Happy Gilmore 2
After much anticipation and a 29-year wait, Adam Sandler returned as the hot-tempered, big-hitting golf legend in “Happy Gilmore 2,” released on Netflix on Friday.
As expected, the film was chock-full of cameos, many of them by real-life golfers and several of them with strong ties to the D-FW area.
Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Bryson DeChambeau and other local products make appearances in the film, though in the case of Scheffler and a few others it’s way more than a cameo. Scheffler himself appears in several scenes and even makes a reference to his 2024 arrest at the PGA Championship.
Check out a full list of Dallas-related cameos below, including SportsDay’s pick for the breakout star in Will Zalatoris.

Cameos in Happy Gilmore 2
Scottie Scheffler – There might not be anyone on more of a roll right now in all of professional sports than World’s No. 1 Golfer, Scottie Scheffler.
Now he can add an acting credit along with the two major tourney wins thus far under the loaded “2025″ section on his résumé. Scheffler’s lucky enough to get teamed up with Gilmore and even gets a lesson in punching.
John Daly – Would it be cooler to have Daly as a fun uncle or as a Yoda figure? He plays both for the Gilmore family in the sequel.
Lee Trevino – The Dallas-born 85-year-old who won six majors reprises his appalled, head-shaking role from the first movie, but gets to mix in a few more lines than the original.
Bryson DeChambeau – What’s more surprising: the SMU product’s appearance in the film, or the fact that Sandler was somehow able to get DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka to work together in the same room?
Nelly Korda – The World No. 1 among women golfers plays a member of a parole board that unanimously denies Shooter McGavin his freedom. Probably the right call.
Korda discussed her cameo with The Dallas Morning News earlier this month.
Will Zalatoris – The TCA-Addison grad and Dallas resident plays a grown-up version of Gilmore’s caddy from the first movie, a hilarious reference to the fact that Zalatoris is said to bear a resemblence to the actor who played Gilmore’s caddy in the original movie.
Jordan Spieth – The Jesuit alum and 3-time major winner makes a short appearance and does a nice job of playing a smarmier version of himself, quibbling with a waiter over his drink order.
Verne Lundquist – The retired broadcasting legend who was once the radio voice of the Dallas Cowboys reprises his role from the first movie and is on play-by-play duty for the golf action in the sequel. Sports fans might find it nice just to hear Lundquist’s voice at a microphone again.
Post Malone – Midway through the movie Lundquist is joined in the booth by the Grammy-nominated artist from Grapevine, who plays Lundquist’s flamboyantly-dressed color analyst partner.
Travis Kelce – The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and beau of Taylor Swift makes an appearance as a waiter.
Boban Marjanović – In another hilarious continuation from the first movie, the former Maverick center and longtime NBA fan-favorite plays the son of Mr. Larson from the original, played by the late Richard Kiel. Boban, at 7-4, and Kiel, at 7-1, do share some physical similarities, now that the movie mentions it.
While watching #HappyGilmore2, I was surprised to see what I initially thought was the son of Richard “Jaws” Kiel.
It’s actually NBA player Boban Marjanović, but it’s a spitting image. Really impressed with the casting. pic.twitter.com/Dteqo2rt4J
