Introduction to North Texas Community
North Texans take care of one another.
From nonprofits to community guides, there are a variety of groups making an impact in their neighborhoods.
During a series of community listening sessions this year, The News heard from North Texans who are seeking connection. They want to know more about the organizations and resources in their community that are helping their neighbors. They want to get to know one another and develop a sense of belonging.
Community Listening Sessions
In a March community listening session, For Oak Cliff CEO Taylor Toynes was among a group of Dallas residents who called for The News to spotlight community organizations that work to break the cycle of violence and address its root causes. He added that covering such work would provide hope and encouragement, as well as potentially more funding and resources.
“When the community is seen and heard, it helps,” Toynes said.
