Police detained 45-year-old Jason Austin Bartik of Celina at the scene; he was booked into the Collin County jail Friday and faces a charge of murder.

Incident Details

According to a Frisco police arrest affidavit, Bartik called 911 to tell police he was involved in a road rage incident on the highway. He told police he pulled into the parking lot of the school, and the other driver followed him into the lot, and said he shot the other driver.

When officers responded to the scene, they located Taylor lying facedown in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Bartik was detained and told police he was being tailgated by Taylor, so he brake checked him and then pulled off the highway and into the parking lot at the high school. He told police Taylor followed him, then approached his car while yelling.

Bartik told police Taylor reached through the driver’s side window and punched him, leading Bartik to shoot Taylor twice, the affidavit said.

Aftermath

Bartik remained in jail Saturday on $750,000 bond. It is unclear if he has retained an attorney.
