Dallas Cowboys vs Chicago Bears: Week 3 Predictions
The Dallas Cowboys got back on track with an overtime win over the Giants and have a chance to get above .500 in Week 3 when they visit the Chicago Bears. Dallas’ matchup with New York was significantly more of a struggle for the Cowboys than most expected, especially on defense. Matt Eberflus’ defense will look to bounce back in Chicago as he returns to face the team that fired him less than a year ago.
Can the Cowboys help Eberflus get his revenge? Before the Week 3 matchup, our columnists and beat writers at The Dallas Morning News gave their predictions on how Cowboys-Bears will play out.

Cowboys catch a scheduling break in Week 3. In another month, it won’t be a surprise if former Lions guru Ben Johnson has turned the Bears offense into a handful. But it’s not there yet. The Cowboys do have to make sure they can pressure Caleb Williams better than they did Russell Wilson, but the Bears’ offensive line gives them an opportunity to shine. And the Chicago defense just got ripped for 52 in Detroit, so Dak should have another 300-yard day in store.

The Cowboys have some issues in their secondary. They’re confident they can fix their zone miscommunications in a week, but until I see it, I’m apprehensive to believe it. Dak Prescott looks like his 2023 version. I expect them to excel against a Bears defense that’s been lit up and is banged up this season. Caveat: If weather is an issue, knock two touchdowns from each score.

After two games, it’s unclear how good the Cowboys can be this season. What we do know is the offense can score a ton of points, and the defense can allow a ton of ‘em. That trend should continue in Chicago, which has allowed an NFL-high 79 points entering Week 3. Expect the defense to bend but not break, forcing a crucial late turnover by inexperienced Bears QB Caleb Williams. George Pickens will draw at least one pass interference penalty and maybe score a touchdown for the Cowboys.

Dak Prescott will win the gunslinger duel against Caleb Williams, Javonte Williams will run like the wind at Soldier Field and the Cowboys’ defense will show improvement compared to last week’s questionable performance. Dallas will come out victorious in Chicago.

Ben Johnson’s touch hasn’t been golden so far, but will the Cowboys’ defense prove an easier mark? Maybe Jadeveon Clowney can help make Caleb Williams’ life in the pocket difficult. The good news is Dak Prescott, off to one of his best starts in years, will be the best quarterback on the field. Always a good place to start.

The Cowboys’ offense is outstanding. It’s not about what they produced against the Giants, but overall. The talent, particularly in the passing game, is scary for defenses to contain. Now that Cowboys defense is another story. Not sure if the communication issues have been solved, but against the Bears it should improve. This will be another close game until the second half. Expect Dallas to pull away late.
