Officers located the man in a wooded area on the north side of Frisco Commons Park. When police made contact with him, the man, who has been identified as Logan Holliday of Frisco, approached the police with a knife in his hand, police said.

Holliday allegedly continued advancing after officers gave him verbal commands and used a “less-lethal force option.”

“Fearing for their lives, the officers were forced to fire their duty weapons to stop him,” the release said.

Authorities said they administered lifesaving measures on scene and transported Holliday to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Per Frisco Police policy, the shooting was referred to the Texas Rangers, which is now investigating the Thursday incident, according to the release.
