A Heartwarming Donation to City Hall Security Officers
During one of his many trips into the City Hall parking garage, Dallas Animal Advisory Commission District 1 Commissioner Jonathan Saxer noticed that the window A/C unit for City Hall Security Officers was showing its age. While the unit remained functional, Commissioner Saxer saw an opportunity to improve officer comfort. He and his family decided that they would like to donate a new system to the city.
To ensure a new unit was donated and installed as quickly as possible with the extreme summer heat approaching, Commissioner Saxer reached out to District 1 Council Member Chad West who then connected him with John Johnson, Director of the City’s Facilities & Real Estate Management (FRM) Department, to make sure the donation process complied with all applicable City policies.
The Donation Process
On July 31, Commissioner Saxer, on behalf of the Saxer Family, personally delivered a new Frigidaire A/C unit to FRM’s HVAC Superintendent Norman Butler and HVAC Manager Rodney Spivey. FRM staff quickly installed the new unit. Since then, Security Officers have reported a noticeable improvement in comfort and have expressed their gratitude for this donation.
