Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer Confident About Micah Parsons’ Availability
FRISCO — Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said he’s confident pass rusher Micah Parsons will be on the field for the season opener against the Eagles.
The Cowboys, who conducted their last full padded practice on Wednesday at the Ford Center, will begin preparations for the Eagles next week.
“At the end of the day, we feel like Micah is going to be out there when we’re going up against Philadelphia in 15 days or whenever it is,” Schottenheimer said before Wednesday’s practice.
The head coach said during training camp practices in Oxnard that he expected Parsons to be on the field once the regular season starts.
Micah Parsons’ Contract Situation
Parsons is conducting a hold-in for a contract extension and has requested a trade. He’s been a participant at walkthrough practices and meetings. Parsons has missed just one on-the-field practice, as he sought treatment for a tight back.
“Micah is another guy, again, he takes great care of his body,” Schottenheimer said. “And you like it sooner rather than later (to practice), but Micah is going to be prepared. I go back to the thing, each situation is different. Micah knows his body as well as anybody and the best thing of him being here is that he has been able to do some of the walkthroughs. He has been able to be in the meetings. He understands some of the calls and the different packages and stuff we’re going to use. That’s a huge advantage. And obviously, the physical side of it, the players are the experts in where they’re bodies are.”
Cowboys Preparation for the Season Opener
When Schottenheimer was asked if he expects Parsons on the field regardless of his contract status, he said: “I feel good that Micah is going to be out there against the Philadelphia Eagles.”
The Cowboys are preparing for their season opener against the Eagles, and having Parsons on the field would be a significant boost to their defense. The team has been conducting practices and walkthroughs, and Parsons has been participating in some of these sessions.
