State Fair regular wants your help to sell cheesecakes in Costco

Must read

Introduction to Drizzle Cheesecakes

The State Fair of Texas concessionaire who won “best taste” for his Biscoff cheesecake will sell his desserts at the grand opening of Costco in Allen on Aug. 15, 16 and 17, 2025. If Drizzle Cheesecakes founder Stephen El Gidi can sell 8,000 slices or more, he said he could have a chance to forge a longer-term relationship with Costco to sell his desserts at other Texas stores.
“We’re looking to expand throughout D-FW,” said El Gidi, a Heath resident.

Expansion of Drizzle Cheesecakes

In just a few years, El Gidi has grown his cheesecake business from a stand at the State Fair of Texas, where he sells his desserts for just 24 days, to a year-round restaurant in Irving. He also began selling Drizzle Cheesecakes at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo a few months ago.
Getting them into grocery stores is the next goal, he said. El Gidi said he felt lucky when a Costco representative visited his Irving shop and ordered “one of everything.”

Drizzle Cheesecake’s 4-pack of flavors include hazelnut deluxe, Oreo, strawberry crunch and Biscoff.

Trial Sale at Costco

He said he was then asked to do a trial sale at the new Costco in Allen. Costco didn’t respond to a request for details.
El Gidi immediately wanted to work with the big-box store.
“When Costco calls, you always say yes,” he said.
El Gidi is two-time Olympic swimmer who competed in the 100-meter butterfly in 2008 and 2012. He’s a naturally competitive person. He was determined to win a State Fair food award in his first year eligible — 2023 — and he did. In 2025, he’s up again for a Big Tex Choice Award, this year for his new Dubai chocolate cheesecake.
He asks fans to visit him at the Allen Costco in mid-August 2025, where he hopes to rally support like he has at the fair. Will it be tough to sell 8,000 slices, or 2,000 four-packs, in three days?
“Nah,” he said.
In 2024, he sold 45,000 slices of cheesecake at the State Fair in 24 days.
