Lucroy, 39, played 12 seasons in the majors, primarily with the Milwaukee Brewers but also spent time with the Rangers, Rockies, Athletics, Angels, Cubs, Red Sox, Nationals and Braves.

Lucroy was acquired by Texas at the 2016 trade deadline in exchange for outfielder Lewis Brinson and pitcher Luis Ortiz. He hit 11 homers and posted an OPS of .885 down the stretch in 2016 to help the Rangers win their second consecutive AL West division championship.

He struggled in 2017, however, as did the Rangers as a whole, leading to the team dealing Lucroy to Colorado at the deadline in 2017.

Lucroy was also a member of the Team USA baseball team that won the gold medal in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He formally retired in 2022. Since then he’s moved into coaching and in July served on the staff for the U.S. national under-18 baseball development program.

Lucroy’s New Role at Grapevine Faith

Lucroy joins a Grapevine Faith squad led by head coach Robert Vaughn, a group that was one win away from a state championship in 2025. Faith was downed in the TAPPS Div. II state title game, falling 11-0 to Houston Lutheran South.
