Introduction to the SEC Media Days Mishap
Somebody at SEC Media Days made a Texas-sized goof. The four-day event taking place at the Omni Hotel and the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta had mostly been going smoothly thus far. Then came time for the coach of the Texas Longhorns to take the stage.
It’s a big year for Steve Sarkisian and the Horns, with a new star quarterback taking over and expectations of a return to the College Football Playoff for the third straight season. Sark taking the stage to the Aggie War Hymn isn’t a great way to get the season going.

The Mix-up at SEC Media Days
Each SEC coach has been introduced with his team’s fight song, but there was apparently some sort of mixup when Sarkisian took the stage, resulting in the wrong song being played. And, of all the songs it could’ve been (Boomer Sooner, Rocky Top, “Texas Hold ‘Em” from Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” album), of course it was the rival Texas A&M’s.
To Sark’s credit, he responded like a true professional: with little to no acknowledgment. As the War Hymn blared and some confused mumbling rumbled across the crowd, Sarkisian walked to the podium, began his speech and gave little impression that anything was wrong.
So maybe the flub bodes well for the Longhorns after all: it appears their coach is already locked in, about a month and a half before he and the Horns make their 2025 season debut at The Horseshoe vs. Ohio State.
SEC Players and Coaches Defend Their Conference
The Big Ten’s recent success has put a dent in the SEC’s reputation as the nation’s dominant conference. SEC coaches, players and Commissioner Greg Sankey have no question they’re still No. 1.

Instead of Texas’ fight song, Sarkisian was introduced at SEC Media Days as the Aggie War Hymn played.

There’s no shortage of lofty comparisons for the Longhorns’ incoming starting quarterback and former five-star recruit.
Conclusion
The mix-up at SEC Media Days may have been an embarrassing moment for the Texas Longhorns, but it didn’t seem to faze their coach, Steve Sarkisian. With a new star quarterback and high expectations for the season, the Longhorns are looking to make a strong comeback. Despite the Big Ten’s recent success, SEC players and coaches are confident that their conference is still the best. With talented players like Arch Manning leading the way, the Longhorns are poised to make a deep run in the playoffs.
