A Texas woman was indicted in Parker County this week several months after police say she plotted to kill her ex-husband by mailing him chocolates laced with fentanyl.

According to Parker County court records, Pamela Jean Stanley, 63, of Coleman was arrested May 30 and charged Thursday with solicitation to commit murder and attempted murder, both second-degree felonies. The Parker County sheriff’s office said in a news release posted to Facebook that Stanley was arrested after driving from Coleman to an interstate motel in Parker County in an attempt to purchase fentanyl from an undercover police officer.

The release said Stanley was recorded telling an acquaintance that she was looking to buy powdered fentanyl and “inject” it into a box of high-end chocolates to send to her ex-husband. The release said Stanley planned to disguise the box as if it was sent by a travel agency as a gift celebrating her ex’s recent engagement, with the box containing a “honeymoon incentive offer.”
