AUSTIN — The FBI has arrested an 11th person in connection with an alleged “ambush” at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center south of Dallas.

Daniel Rolando Sanchez Estrada was arrested Tuesday, federal court records show, and he is being charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence. Public court records didn’t show if he has been indicted.

Michael Lehmann, the federal public defender assigned to represent Sanchez Estrada, did not respond to an email seeking comment Wednesday afternoon.

The July Fourth attack at the Prairieland Detention Center resulted in an Alvarado Police Department officer being shot in the neck. The officer survived the attack. Individuals held at the detention center, which is about 25 miles south of Fort Worth, are either awaiting deportation or an immigration court date.

Ten people have each been charged with three counts of attempted murder of a federal officer and three counts of discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, according to federal prosecutors.

Nancy Larson, the acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, said in a news conference Monday that the attack was a “planned ambush with the attempt to kill ICE correction officers.”

At the news conference, Larson alluded to an 11th person who had not been named.

According to the criminal complaint for Sanchez Estrada, one of the individuals who was arrested for the attack, Maricela Rueda, called Sanchez Estrada from the Johnson County jail on the morning of July 6 and told him to tow her vehicle. Rueda also told Sanchez Estrada to “‘move whatever you need to move at the house,’” the complaint said.

Later that same morning, an FBI surveillance team observed Sanchez Estrada carrying packages from a residence associated with him and his parents, the complaint said. Sanchez Estrada was seen carrying packages from the house and placing them in his vehicle.

Officers observed Sanchez Estrada stop at an apartment complex in Denton and place the box of materials at the door of an apartment. Sanchez Estrada was arrested that afternoon by Denton Police Department officers, according to the complaint.

Once federal law enforcement officers executed a search warrant on the Denton apartment, they found the box they believed Sanchez Estrada had left. The materials in the box included documents for civil unrest, as well as anti-government and anti-Trump sentiments, according to the criminal complaint.
