The fitness influencer known as “Liver King” was arrested this week in Texas after challenging podcaster Joe Rogan to a fight.
Brian Johnson, 47, faces a charge of making a terroristic threat and was booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin on Tuesday, jail records show. Bond was set at $20,000.
In a statement to The Dallas Morning News, Austin police said Johnson traveled to Texas, where Rogan lives, while threatening the podcaster on Instagram.
“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out, my name’s Liver King. Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you,” Johnson said in a video posted Monday.

A series of videos posted to Instagram show Johnson wearing a sweatsuit and tactical vest while talking about fighting Rogan, which he said he was doing for his family. One of the final videos shows police patting down Johnson, who is wearing handcuffs.
Johnson was profiled in the recent Netflix documentary Untold: The Liver King, which explores the influencer’s raw meat diet, supplement business and digital empire. He has nearly three million followers on Instagram and six million on TikTok, where he posts videos of himself shirtless, lifting weights and devouring liver, beef heart and testicles.
Police said they contacted Rogan on Tuesday, who told them that he never met Johnson and considered the posts threatening. Johnson was arrested at the Four Seasons later that day.
Rogan, who moved from California to Texas in 2020, has never hosted Johnson on his podcast. But he has discussed his steroid use. In 2023, Rogan criticized Johnson for claiming his physique was the result of what is called an “ancestral” diet of raw meat.
Johnson long denied steroid use. In 2022, he admitted to taking anabolic steroids after a leaked email showed he spent more than $11,000 on the drugs.
