Introduction to the Largest Burger in Dallas-Fort Worth

Attention burger enthusiasts! A restaurant in Hurst believes it is serving the largest burger in Dallas-Fort Worth. And if you’re bold enough to attempt to eat it in less than 30 minutes, the restaurant plans to award customers $150.

El Reyno Elotes y Taquería launched its new burger, La Reyna or The Queen, which weighs almost six pounds and measures 16 inches.

That’s not all. It’s a Mexican-style burger that, in addition to 1.5 pounds of beef, has 1.5 pounds of trompo meat (yes, the same meat used in the popular tacos), ham, three types of cheese, beans, tomato, onion, avocado, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard. There are also a few mozzarella sticks inside. If that wasn’t enough, it comes with fries and chili.

“There are several places nearby that sell burgers, but we wanted to make the best one of all,” said José “Joe” Reyna, owner of El Reyno.

About El Reyno Elotes y Taquería

The creation of this burger came about after there were several winners of another challenge launched by the taqueria. The task? Eat 20 tacos in less than 15 minutes.

“We wanted to go further, to offer a new adventure for our customers,” Reyna said. “The burger isn’t just for the challenge; people can buy it to celebrate a birthday or a family reunion. It’s meant to be shared.”

Joe Reyna prepared the La Reyna burger at El Reyno in Hurst on June 10, 2025. It’s made of 1.5 pounds of beef, 1.5 pounds of trompo meat and held together with a 1.5 pound bun. This one weighed five pounds, 15 ounces with all the toppings and sauce.

The La Reyna Challenge

The La Reyna challenge involves a single person eating the entire burger in less than half an hour. Those who succeed receive $150 in cash.

Reyna was born in Monterrey, Mexico’s second-largest city. At 17, he immigrated to Dallas, where he married and now has seven children. For years, he worked in other people’s taquerías until, in 2024, he opened his own business inside Express Corner Store in Hurst.

“The meat recipe used for the hamburger is my mom’s,” Reyna said. “When she was pregnant with me, she made hamburgers to sell on the street, and this is her secret recipe.”
