Dallas Cowboys at Full Attendance for Mandatory Minicamp
The Dallas Cowboys were at full attendance for the opening of mandatory minicamp in Frisco. While some big names around the league are skipping the beginning of required portions of team’s offseason due to contract disputes or other factors, two of the most notable attendees for Dallas, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, were among those in uniform at The Star, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday.
Both star defenders had not been participating in some of the voluntary segments of team activities the past few weeks. However, the Cowboys expected both to be on hand once the mandatory workouts began this week. Schottenheimer said Parsons should participate in Tuesday afternoon’s workout, while Diggs continues working with the rehab group.
Parsons and Diggs Attendance
Parsons is still seeking a new contract, so his presence at The Star has been questionable anyway. In years past, he’s been an infrequent visitor, contract issue or not. When the offseason program began this year, Schottenheimer asked Parsons to attend the first day of voluntary workouts and he did.
“No. 1 to have everybody here, perfect attendance is a good thing. I think it just shows you that he’s is serious about what we talked about, which is developing that leadership mentality, the mindset to be a guy that we can count on not just the fourth quarter when he’s got to make a big sack or get pressure on the quarterback but just in general throughout the course of a week,” Schottenheimer said. “It’s a long season, we all know that and my conversations with Micah have been great and really all the guys. But he’s doing the things he’s supposed to do in terms of he’s training, he’s prepping he’s been in and he’s been out and nobody is more excited than Micah about what we’re building here and he’s excited to be back in the building doing it.”
Diggs’ Recovery and Contract
Diggs, recovering from last season’s severe knee injury, would risk losing $500,000 of his $9 million 2025 base salary if he doesn’t complete at least 84% of his offseason workouts.
“[Diggs is] doing good, same thing,” Schottenheimer said. “Came in for a re-check, doing good, and we’ll figure out when we get to training camp, there’s still a big window of time between now and when we get out there. He’s hitting the markers he needs to hit.”
Conclusion
The attendance of Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs at the mandatory minicamp is a positive sign for the Dallas Cowboys. Despite some uncertainty surrounding their contracts and injuries, both players are committed to being part of the team’s offseason program. With their participation, the Cowboys can start building towards a successful season.
