Doughnuts get their day on Friday, June 6, 2025, for National Donut Day. While it’s true that we celebrate doughnuts more than one day a year, this special day is a great excuse to indulge in these sweet treats. The Salvation Army created Donut Day in 1938, inspired by the Donut Lassies who handed out doughnuts to soldiers in France during World War I. This mission continued during the Great Depression and into today, with the Salvation Army of North Texas serving healthcare workers at Dallas-area hospitals during the coronavirus pandemic.
