Carrollton Police Officer Under Investigation for Alleged Improper Relationship

A veteran Carrollton police officer working as a school resource officer was placed on paid administrative leave after he was accused last week of having an “improper relationship” with a 17-year-old student in 2008, the department announced Wednesday.

Carrollton police received a complaint naming officer Forest Cole Langston on May 8. Langston, who has not been arrested or charged as of Wednesday, was placed on leave pending an investigation by police into the allegation, the department said in a news release.

The Allegation and Investigation

Langston’s attorney, Zach Horn, said that it was “unfortunate to see a man’s name dragged through the mud without the benefit of any kind of due process.”

“Officer Langston is looking forward to clearing his name,” Horn said in a message to The Dallas Morning News.

Langston is assigned to Lewisville ISD, but he was working at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD in 2008, when police say the alleged improper relationship occurred, Bailey Clampitt, a city of Carrollton spokesperson, said in a statement.

The department did not detail the nature of the alleged relationship, though police believe the allegation does not “involve any misconduct occurring on any school property,” the statement reads.

Police Investigation and School District Cooperation

Carrollton police are the sole agency investigating the case, Clampitt said Wednesday.

Langston, 55, joined the Carrollton Police Department more than 30 years ago. State records show he has not worked at any other law enforcement agencies as a peace officer.

Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD is aware of the investigation into Langston and is cooperating with police, Caren Rodriguez, a district spokesperson, said in a statement.

Samantha Fitzpatrick, a Lewisville ISD spokesperson, said in a statement that the district “takes any allegation of this nature with the utmost seriousness” and was working with police during their investigation.

Langston’s Assignment and Call for Information

A city website listing the assignments for the department’s school resource officers shows Langston worked at Arbor Creek Middle School, Indian Creek Elementary School and Homestead Elementary School.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact detectives at 972-466-9133 or email crimetips@cityofcarrollton.com.
