Can Dallas Pass the Test?

Must read

Introduction to the 2025 Dallas Cowboys Season

The Cowboys have won their last two season openers, both on the road, and for the third consecutive season, America’s Team is opening away from home. This time it’s to visit the Eagles in Philly. When the season is over, the Cowboys will have played their typical slate of prime time games, this time six games under the bright lights. And, the Cowboys play on Thanksgiving, of course, Christmas Day and travel to New York to close the season on January 4. Brian Schottenheimer’s first year as head coach has its challenges, and here are our predictions on how he’ll do:

Week 1 at Philadelphia

Thursday, Sept. 4, 7:20 p.m. (Ch. 5)

The season opener is on a Thursday night in the city that hates the Cowboys. The Eagles will get their Super Bowl rings, have their fans ready to fight and look to defend the title. Right guard Tyler Booker gets to face Jalen Carter, and coach Brian Schottenheimer debuts as the man in charge.

Philadelphia 31, Dallas 10 (0-1)

The Cowboys will be looking to start the season strong, but it won’t be easy against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Week 2 vs. New York Giants

Sunday, Sept. 14, Noon (Ch. 4)

Schottenheimer’s home opener is against a divisional opponent. Dallas has defeated the New York Giants in their last eight meetings. It’s a battle of former Penn State pass rushers in Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter. QB Russell Wilson gets another shot at the Cowboys. So does Parsons.

Dallas 20, NY Giants 10 (1-1)

The Cowboys will be looking to bounce back from their week 1 loss and start their home schedule on a positive note.

Week 3 at Chicago

Sunday, Sept. 21, 3:25 p.m. (Ch. 4)

Chicago is a good town. Ask the Mavericks. So the Cowboys’ defense wins this for new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, correct? Right? The Bears have talent, they just need some direction and we’re not sure they have it with their rookie head coach. Schottenheimer will have his group ready and Eberflus, the former Bears coach, will win his revenge game.

Dallas 20, Chicago 7 (2-1)

The Cowboys will be looking to build on their week 2 win and take down the Bears on the road.

Week 4 vs. Green Bay

Sunday, Sept. 28, 7:20 pm. (Ch. 5)

The Packers just own the Cowboys. They’ve won the last five games, including the postseason. The last time Dallas defeated Green Bay was 2016. That seems like ages ago. Well, the Cowboys are just tired of dealing with these Packers. Expect big games from the running attack.

Dallas 30, Green Bay 17 (3-1)

The Cowboys will be looking to break their losing streak against the Packers and make a statement at home.

Week 5 at New York Jets

Sunday, Oct. 5, Noon (Ch. 4)

Two trips in New York in the same season is pretty nice, right? The Jets have a new head coach, former Cowboys cornerback Aaron Glenn, and a new quarterback, Justin Fields. The Cowboys saw a glimpse of him last year in Pittsburgh. The Jets are much improved and should handle the visitors from Texas.

New York Jets 17, Dallas 10 (3-2)

The Cowboys will be looking to bounce back from their week 4 win and take down the Jets on the road.

Week 6 at Carolina

Sunday, Oct. 12, Noon (Ch. 4)

Again in Charlotte?!?!?! Dallas has played Carolina the last three seasons, winning each of those contests. The Panthers are a better team than in years past. This one could be decided by a field goal. It’s the Jonathan Mingo revenge game. Is there such a thing? Brandon Aubrey wins it late.

Dallas 24, Carolina 21 (4-2)

The Cowboys will be looking to build on their week 5 loss and take down the Panthers on the road.

Week 7 vs. Washington

Sunday, Oct. 19, 3:25 p.m. (Ch. 4)

The teams split the season series the last three seasons. That’s just how these teams go about their business. Is there such a thing as a sophomore slump for QB Jayden Daniels? Will the Cowboys’ defense shut him down?

Dallas 17, Washington 10 (5-2)

The Cowboys will be looking to take down their divisional rivals and build on their winning streak.

Week 8 at Denver

Sunday, Oct. 26, 3:25 p.m. (Ch. 11)

Sean Payton vs. Brian Schottenheimer. Payton was rumored to be the next Cowboys head coach about 100 times over the years. Payton is close to the Jones family. He’s got a good team. The Broncos have won the last seven meetings between these teams. Dallas last won against Denver in 1995.

Denver 23, Dallas 14 (5-3)

The Cowboys will be looking to break their losing streak against the Broncos and make a statement on the road.

Week 9 vs. Arizona

Monday, Nov. 3, 7:15 p.m. (ESPN, Ch. 8)

Kyler Murray is undefeated and undisputed at AT&T Stadium. The Cardinals quarterback and Allen Product is 8-0 in Arlington. He’s 5-0 in high school, 1-0 in college and 2-0 in the NFL at the stadium. Oh yeah, Arizona has a three-game win streak over the Cowboys. Hard to bet against Murray.

Arizona 27, Dallas 17 (5-4)

The Cowboys will be looking to break their losing streak against the Cardinals and make a statement at home.

Week 10 bye

The Cowboys went 3-2 after bye weeks with Mike McCarthy as head coach. When Dallas played on the road following a bye, it went 2-2 under McCarthy.

The Cowboys will be looking to rest and recharge during their bye week and come back strong in week 11.

Week 11 at Las Vegas

Monday, Nov. 17, 7:15 p.m. (ESPN, Ch. 8)

This is the first regular-season game in Las Vegas for the Cowboys. Historic day. The Cowboys last beat the Raiders when the franchise was located in Oakland. That was in 2017. What about now? Vegas has Pete Carroll and a bunch of pass rushers looking for Dak Prescott.

Las Vegas 17, Dallas 10 (5-5)

The Cowboys will be looking to bounce back from their week 10 bye and take down the Raiders on the road.

Week 12 vs. Philadelphia

Sunday, Nov. 23, 3:25 p.m. (Ch. 4)
