Weather Alert: Flash Flood Warning Issued for Dallas County and Surrounding Areas
Dallas County and parts of Tarrant and Ellis counties were under a flash flood warning until after 9 a.m.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office warned that strong thunderstorms were moving east at 30 miles per hour, with wind gusts of more than 40 mph.
Drivers should expect flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, NWS said. About 1.5 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen on Wednesday.

The weather service warns drivers to turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.
The storm had moved east by 9:45 a.m., according to the Weather Service’s radar map. Part of North Texas could still see more storms Wednesday afternoon, the Weather Service said.

Power Outages and Storm Damage
The storm also knocked out power to thousands of Oncor customers across North Texas according to Oncor’s outage map.

Storms are expected to continue the rest of the week and into the weekend, according to the forecast from KXAS-TV (NBC5) and the weather service. Severe storms are possible again Thursday afternoon, according to the Weather Service, with hail and damaging winds possible.

Storms are expected to move in from the west with the possibility of hail, severe winds and heavy precipitation.

Risks of severe storms and flooding are forecast to return starting Monday.

The region will dry up over the weekend, with sunny days in the low to mid-70s.
