H-E-B is ready to open its first namesake store in North Texas in 2025. The company will officially launch on May 14 in Melissa at 6 a.m., according to a statement from H–E-B. The latest addition to the H-E-B lineup in Dallas-Fort Worth puts the store in one of the faster-growing cities locally. In July of 2023, Melissa’s population reached more than 23,500, an increase of about 70% from April 2020, according to U.S. Census data. It was less than 5,000 in 2010.

The store follows the opening of Joe V’s Smart Shop, part of the H-E-B family, in East Dallas in March. The smaller chain features smaller stores and is targeted at price-conscious shoppers.
