Frisco ISD Seeks Charges Against Man Who Claimed To Break Into High School Stadium

Investigation and Controversy Surrounding Fatal Stabbing at Frisco High School Track Meet

A Frisco ISD official said Saturday night they were seeking charges against a man who said he “broke into” a high school stadium to capture video related to the fatal stabbing at a track meet earlier this month.

In the video shared on X, Jake Lang, a U.S. Senate hopeful from Florida and founder of Protect White Americans, points to a dark streak on the ground near the bleachers of Frisco’s David Kuykendall Stadium and alleges it’s the blood of Austin Metcalf.

Metcalf, 17, was killed at the stadium on April 2 during the District 11-5A track meet.

“I gotta get out of here before the police come,” Lang says in the video. “I just hopped the fence to get in here.” He also wrote in the post containing the video that he “just broke into Kuykendall Stadium.”

Background of the Incident

The stadium is Frisco ISD property. Amanda McCune, a district spokesperson, told The Dallas Morning News that the district was “in the process of filing trespassing charges.” McCune also said the video was not filmed on the side of the stadium where the stabbing occurred.

“The individual in this video is filming on the home side of the stadium,” McCune said. “The incident occurred on the visitor side, which can be seen across the field when he turns the camera off himself.”

The News reached out to Frisco police for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

Reaction from the Community

The News also reached out to Lang for comment Saturday night. Early Sunday, Lang responded with two statements and demanded the paper print them “in whole” and in a new article. The News didn’t agree to Lang’s terms before he sent his statements. The publication also doesn’t allow subjects of articles to dictate how they are written.

In the first statement, Lang questioned without evidence whether the stabbing happened on the visitor’s side, suggesting police needed to “prove” it by releasing any video evidence obtained during their ongoing investigation.

In his second statement, Lang did not dispute entering the stadium. He said he was “trying to discover the murder scene they have hid from the American people for weeks.”

Protest and Racial Tensions

Lang was in Frisco on Saturday morning for a protest held by his organization. The protest, according to Lang, was arranged to rally around the death of Metcalf.

The protest also called for Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old teenager who is facing a murder charge in connection to the stabbing, to be “put back in prison until trial.” Anthony’s initial $1-million bond was lowered on April 14 to $250,000 by a judge who considered factors such as his age, ties to the community and lack of criminal history. Anthony’s bond conditions require him to wear an ankle monitor, remain on house arrest and be with an adult at all times.

Lang has called Metcalf a symbol of a “violent Black culture” being perpetrated against white America. Anthony is Black. Metcalf was white.

In a heated exchange over speakerphone during Saturday’s protest, Jeff Metcalf, Austin Metcalf’s father, condemned Lang.

“You’re trying to create more race divide than bridging the gap,” Jeff Metcalf told Lang. “I do not condone anything you do.”

Lang’s Past and Current Activities

Lang, who was accused of participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, was pardoned earlier this year by President Donald Trump while awaiting prosecution. He is running to fill the Florida Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio after he was appointed U.S. Secretary of State.

Conclusion

The incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about racial tensions and the actions of individuals like Lang. As the investigation continues, it is essential to consider the impact of such events on the community and the importance of promoting understanding and respect.
