Tragic Accident in Oklahoma Claims Lives of Two North Texas Teens
Two North Texas teens are dead and another is critically injured after a multicar pileup in Oklahoma early Thursday.
What Happened
At about 6:14 a.m., a collision occurred between a 2016 Jeep Compass and a 2018 Subaru Outback, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The Jeep, driven by Brinlee Farris, 18, of Wylie, was in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 69 when it hydroplaned across the median and into the southbound lanes, hitting the Subaru. Another vehicle driving in the southbound lanes hit the Subaru, causing the start of a pileup.
Details of the Accident
In total, five cars were involved. Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined the cause of the accident was unsafe speeds for wet road conditions.
Farris had two passengers in the car with her: Hannah Zebraski, 18, of Aubrey, and a 16-year-old from Richland Hills. The 16-year-old was taken to an area hospital in serious condition before being airlifted to Medical City Plano.
Farris and Zebraski were both ejected from the vehicle and were declared dead at the scene.
Other Injuries and Damage
The driver of the Subaru, 63-year-old Judy Drott of Atoka, Okla., was also taken to the hospital in serious condition. No other drivers were injured.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.
