Changes in Leadership at Twin Peaks
Two top executives from Dallas-based Twin Peaks will leave the restaurant chain on April 10, the company announced Monday. CEO Joe Hummel and Chief Legal Officer Clay Mingus are “pursuing other opportunities,” according to a Twin Peaks statement.
The resignations come two months after Twin Peaks’ initial public offering. Twin Peaks has been publicly traded (Nasdaq: TWNP) since late January 2025.
Background of the Executives
Hummel took the CEO job nearly a decade ago in 2016. Before that, he worked on the franchise side of Twin Peaks.
A statement in a news release said Hummel and Mingus “helped pave the way for the IPO.”
Impact on the Company
With the change in leadership, Chief Financial Officer Ken Kuick will act as interim CEO. Allen Sussman has been appointed interim chief legal officer.
Twin Peaks was co-founded in 2005 by North Texas entrepreneur Randy DeWitt, whose company FB Society, formerly Front Burner Restaurant Group, went on to create Velvet Taco, Sixty Vines, Whiskey Cake and others.
Future Plans for Twin Peaks
Restaurant Business notes Dallas-based Twin Peaks “has been one of the fastest-growing brands in casual dining in recent years,” despite some dips in 2024. Interim CEO Kuick said Twin Peaks has opened two new restaurants in 2025. Company executives expect to add seven to nine more this year.
Twin Peaks operates 116 restaurants in the United States and Mexico. The first one was in Lewisville, a suburb of Dallas.
