Joe V’s Arrives in East Dallas with Southern and Latino Twists

Must read

Introduction to Joe V’s Smart Shop

The new Joe V’s Smart Shop, part of the H-E-B family, is just hours from opening in East Dallas with everything from dried arbol peppers in bins to pork spare ribs in the meat section.

The store is opening to the public Wednesday at 7 a.m. at 7700 Samuell Blvd., at the corner with Buckner Boulevard. Another Joe V’s Smart Shop is slated for Irving.

Store Details

The store comes in a smaller package with 55,000 square feet while H-E-Bs can be 130,000 square feet. That smaller size enables it to find spots like it did in East Dallas. The new store employs about 230 people, hundreds less than H-E-B, with many coming from the local area, said Justin Tippett, COO at Joe V’s.

“What we offer, in my opinion, is very compelling,” Tippett said.

Product Offerings

Joe V’s packs a lot in that space as it tailors its products while reaching out to folks who are more price-conscious. Many of the products can also be found at H-E-B, such as granola bars and frozen waffles. A lot of work goes into figuring out what a shopper in an area would want.

It has about “115 different Latino cheeses that we carry here at this store,” Tippett said. “If you’re from Venezuela versus if you’re from Guatemala — you’re looking for something a little bit different in terms of cheese, and so we try to offer those things.”

H-E-B Expansion

H-E-B, which also includes higher-end Central Market, is stepping up efforts with more and more new stores for its brands in North Texas and beyond. Joe V’s Smart Shop’s existing store is at Wheatland Road while H-E-B has been opening its namesake stores in cities like Frisco, McKinney and Plano — with an eye on more.

“We developed as a multiformat retailer because of our commitment to serve all the communities of Texas,” said Stephen Butt, H-E-B board member, president of shareholder relations and the Central Market division. “We tailor our food-drug stores to fit those neighborhoods.”

Conclusion

In conclusion, the new Joe V’s Smart Shop in East Dallas is an exciting addition to the community, offering a wide range of products at affordable prices. With its smaller size and tailored product selection, Joe V’s is well-positioned to serve the needs of local residents. As H-E-B continues to expand its presence in North Texas, it will be interesting to see how the company adapts to the changing retail landscape.
