Richard Rawlings Tries the $150 Martini at Evelyn Steakhouse
On opening week of Dallas steakhouse Evelyn, classic car celebrity Richard Rawlings was the first customer to buy the restaurant’s flashy, new drink, a $150 martini called The Price of Fame.
The Fast N’ Loud star was fastest to Fame, you could say.
About Evelyn Steakhouse
Evelyn opens Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in the Dallas Design District. Rawlings visited the restaurant during a friends-and-family event. The elegant steakhouse was designed with an old Hollywood feel: velvet banquettes, low lighting and a classic menu of steak, caviar and cocktails.
The $150 Martini
The $150 martini is one of the most expensive cocktails in Dallas. It’s mixed with Nolet’s Reserve Gin, a bottle that retails for around $750, alongside dry vermouth, black truffle bitters and caviar-stuffed olives. Restaurant co-owner Rich Hicks said the name, The Price of Fame, is cheeky challenge — one that might just make some deep-pocketed Dallasites reach for their wallets. (One of his other restaurants, The Mexican, sells a $250 margarita.)

Richard Rawlings’ Experience
For Rawlings, it was an easy order. “If anyone knows the price of fame, it’s me,” Rawlings said.
The Gas Monkey Garage owner is likely talking about his rollercoaster relationship with fame. Rawlings got out of the restaurant business after he was sued by his business partner in 2018 for defamation, then countersued. The cases were dismissed in 2021, according to Dallas County Court records. Rawlings told The Dallas Morning News in 2024 that he’s getting back in the restaurant business. He continues to restore classic cars and has a sizeable fanbase online.

Food at Evelyn
With the $150 martini, Rawlings ordered the cheesesteak tower, a happy hour special at Evelyn.

Each tower of bite-sized Wagyu cheesesteaks and fries costs $35 and feeds four people. Towers are served Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and Hicks is considering adding it to Evelyn’s menu for a late-night snack, from 9 p.m. to close.
Conclusion
Rawlings praised Hicks’ Dallas Design District restaurant, now just one day old. He called Evelyn “one of the most beautiful restaurants in Dallas.” Evelyn is at 1201 Turtle Creek Blvd., Dallas. Reservations are recommended for dinner. Reservations not required for drinks. Evelyn opens March 26, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
