A Paul Quinn College Student’s Exciting Experience on “The Price is Right”
In a new episode of “The Price is Right,” the announcer is expected to call a Paul Quinn College student to bidder’s row. Neriah Braziel remembers screaming under the bright lights and exciting atmosphere of the set.
The long-running game show is expected to air a college-themed episode for spring break on Monday at 10 a.m. on CBS.
Paul Quinn College and Its Mission
Braziel, a freshman at Paul Quinn College studying education, said it felt good to be picked and show love for her school. While the school is smaller and known more locally, Braziel said she was happy to see it get some recognition.
The historically Black school in southeast Oak Cliff is a faith-based, private four-year college committed to eradicating generational poverty.
“They do a lot for us, way more than other people would think,” Braziel said, adding that her all teachers are “very hands-on with everything.”
Support from the College President
Michael Sorrell, Paul Quinn’s president, said he hopes Braziel wins.
“The Quinnite Nation and I are thrilled for Neriah!” Sorrell said in a written statement. “We all know how special it is to be on television, period. However, to be included as a contestant on such an icon show is something entirely different.”
Braziel’s Experience on the Show
Braziel said growing up, she saw the show with her mom and knew her mother had been on the show.
“I told her, ‘OK, well, this time I want to go. I want to know what it’s like. What is it like to be in the audience,’” Braziel said.
She and her mom secured the tickets online and made their way to California. The show, she said, made her feel special.
“It’s just so cool seeing all the other college students with their stuff on,” Braziel said. ”People you don’t even know are so happy for you. It was very exciting.”

From Skepticism to Excitement
Braziel said while she had been skeptical of the excitement seen on game shows, but being there showed her how real the experience felt, adding that when she got called, she got nervous.
“My mind’s just like, ‘Oh no, I haven’t watched this enough. I don’t think I’ve watched it enough —everybody else seems like they know what they’re doing, and I don’t know anything.”
Braziel said she remembers as a kid watching contestants and saying, “No, that’s not the right answer. You’re not thinking.” Now that she’s been a contestant herself, she said her perspective’s changed.
“I can see how people get nervous because everybody’s watching. There’s cameras everywhere. There’s workers everywhere. It was definitely surreal to see it in real life. Because as a kid, I was just like, ‘That was easy. Why didn’t they get that?’”
Conclusion
Neriah Braziel’s experience on “The Price is Right” is a testament to the excitement and thrill of being on a game show. With the support of her college president and the recognition of her school, Braziel’s experience is one to remember.
