HelloFresh Closes North Texas Site and Cuts Over 270 Jobs

A meal-kit company is closing one of its sites in North Texas — and cutting over 270 workers. HelloFresh is shuttering its distribution center in Grand Prairie and consolidating to another site in Irving to manage the volume in the region, the company said.

The company also is cutting 273 employees at the Grand Prairie site, according to a filing with the state. The reductions are set for May of this year. The company has worked to become more efficient as it looks to be more disciplined with marketing. The HelloFresh Group delivered close to 1 billion meals globally in 2024.

Reasons Behind the Closure

“As the meal kit market normalizes, we are now focused on diversifying our product offerings and driving profitable growth by optimizing our operational footprint,” the company said in an email. “As a result, we have made the difficult decision to consolidate our operations in Texas.”

The Irving site is its “most technologically advanced fulfillment center, enabling us to offer more choice and customization to our customers.” This move is expected to improve the company’s overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Impact on Employees

The changes follow cuts connected to Manpower at the Irving facility — as HelloFresh ended its relationship with Manpower and gave workers the opportunity for them to be reassigned at the site. The company said the Grand Prairie cuts were not connected to the earlier changes with Manpower.

North Texas has seen layoffs of late. Nearly 800 workers across five companies were set to be laid off, according to a slate of WARN notices issued in January. That included the changes with Manpower in Irving.
