Murder Charge Filed Against 22-Year-Old Man in Far East Dallas Shooting
A man is in jail facing a murder charge after another man was found fatally shot in Far East Dallas on Sunday, police said.
Shooting Incident
On Sunday evening at around 6:45 p.m., Dallas police were called to a shooting in the 7800 block of Ferguson Road. Officers responded to the scene and found two men who had been injured, including one who had been shot.
Victim Identification and Death
The man who was shot, identified as 39-year-old Arvey Cruz Ortega, died at the location. The other man was treated and released, according to the police release.
Arrest and Charges
An investigation led police to arrest 22-year-old Jonatan Espinoza on one count of murder, the release said. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
Additional Charges
Espinoza also allegedly assaulted four police officers at the location and faces four counts of assault of a peace officer, according to jail records. Medical treatment for the officers was not needed, the release said.
