Chicago police have filed felony charges against 25-year-old Dimitri Sanders, an East Chatham resident, accused of killing a woman and injuring another during a West Side shooting on the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n
The charges stem from Sanders’s alleged role in a shooting that left a 59-year-old woman dead and a 29-year-old woman injured in the 900 block of North LeClaire Avenue, in Austin, on the city’s West Side.<\/p>\n
According to police, the shooting unfolded just before midnight on July 4, in the 900 block of North LeClaire Avenue when the two victims were standing outside in the area.<\/p>\n
Sanders allegedly opened fire on the victims, killing the 59-year-old woman and critically injuring the 29-year-old, police said.<\/p>\n
Authorities eventually caught up with Sanders over the weekend and he was taken into custody on Sunday in the 300 block of East 75th Street in Greater Grand Crossing.<\/p>\n
Sanders will make a court appearance on Wednesday for a detention hearing.<\/p>\n
