The meat-free diner at 2333 N. Milwaukee Ave. will have its final day of service on Dec. 12, Chicago Diner\u2019s management announced Monday. The diner\u2019s Lakeview location at 3411 N. Halsted St. will remain open.<\/p>\n<h2>Reason for Closure<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cWe are sad to be leaving a great community and have loved being part of such a unique neighborhood of Chicago, but despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to keep this location open,\u201d the diner\u2019s management wrote in a Monday press release shared on social media. It was also included among in the top 25 vegetarian restaurants in the world by The Daily Meal and earned the Chicago Reader\u2019s award for best vegetarian spot for 14 consecutive years.<\/p>\n<h2>Expansion and Staff<\/h2>\n<p>The Chicago Diner opened its Logan Square location in 2012, with its owners saying they had been looking for a suitable spot to expand the business in recent years. In 1996, it opened a second location in north suburban Highland Park that was in business for eight years, DNAinfo Chicago reported previously.
