Atelier is moving to an undisclosed location in Lincoln Square thanks to a successful fundraising campaign. The $485,340 raised via investors will also allow Atelier to have \u201cincreased visibility\u201d after the move, according to the fundraiser. \u201cAs soon as the lease is signed we\u2019ll announce the new address. (Rest assured, we\u2019re not going far and staying in the neighborhood.),\u201d the restaurant said last month in a social media post.<\/p>\n
The impending move has seen a rush of diners coming by to enjoy Atelier this week, owner Tim Lacey told Block Club in an email. \u201cOn top of trying to get ready for the move, we\u2019re in the middle of the busiest week we\u2019ve had in a while,\u201d Lacey told Block Club. Lacey was unavailable Wednesday for additional comment about the move and the new location.<\/p>\n
Ahead of its move, the restaurant will host a garage sale 11 a.m.-3 p.m. July 26, where people can buy plates, tables and other \u201cbits \u2019n\u2019 bobs.\u201d The sale will be another way for diners to say goodbye to Atelier\u2019s current home, Lacey said. The Western Avenue storefront was previously the location of chef Iliana Regan\u2019s Elizabeth restaurant, another Michelin winner. Elizabeth closed in 2022, according to Eater.<\/p>\n
Lacey opened Atelier in 2023 with Chef Christian Hunter, a James Beard Award semi-finalist. Within a year of opening, the restaurant earned a Michelin star, and Chicago Magazine noted the Lincoln Square spot as the second best restaurant in the city in its 2024 list. Hunter stepped out of the executive chef role in early 2024 and Bradyn Kawcak was brought on as Atelier\u2019s new executive chef, retaining Atelier\u2019s Michelin star.<\/p>\n
