There, it&#8217;s going to be a long road to recovery\u2014both physically and mentally\u2014after the traumatic events they experienced.<\/p>\n<h2>The Backstory<\/h2>\n<p>The first attack was reported just before 7 p.m. on Thursday in the 7100 block of South Eberhart Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>A 33-year-old woman was stabbed several times in the back and abdomen, police said. She was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>The Cook County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office, on Friday, identified her as Teone Jones.<\/p>\n<p>Around 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jones&#8217; 11-year-old son was found suffering from several stab wounds to the abdomen in the 200 block of West 66th Street, police said.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken to Comer Children&#8217;s Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Jones&#8217; younger son was reported missing.<\/p>\n<h2>Boy Kidnapped<\/h2>\n<p>Around 1 a.m. Friday, Chicago police issued a child abduction alert for Jones&#8217; 8-year-old son.<\/p>\n<p>The boy had also been stabbed multiple times in the chest, according to police scanner audio.<\/p>\n<p>An Amber Alert issued early Friday morning revealed that the boy was last seen around 7:40 p.m. at 7144 S. Eberhart Avenue. According to the alert, the boy was reportedly seen in an SUV with the suspect, a 39-year-old man.<\/p>\n<p>Hours later, on Friday morning, heartbreaking surveillance video captured the boy walking alone into a gas station convenience store near 82nd Street and Damen Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the city&#8217;s Auburn Gresham neighborhood, the young boy sought help from the gas station clerk.<\/p>\n<p>The Amber Alert was canceled at 4:23 a.m. with Illinois State Police confirming the boy had been located.<\/p>\n<p>The boy is currently being treated at Comer Children&#8217;s Hospital. He was originally listed in critical condition.<\/p>\n<h2>Suspect Arrested<\/h2>\n<p>A man was taken into custody in connection with the attacks around 10 a.m. Friday on Interstate 65 near 137th Street in Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was identified by the Lake County Sheriff&#8217;s Department as Marcus Bausley, 39.<\/p>\n<p>At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Department was alerted by a license plate reader system that identified the suspect&#8217;s vehicle. By 9:40 a.m., the vehicle was located at I-65 and U.S. 30 in Merrillville.<\/p>\n<p>The Indiana State Police, along with the Lake County Highway Interdiction and High Crime Unit, began a pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>Officer used an immobilization technique to box in the suspect&#8217;s vehicle, bringing it to a stop.<\/p>\n<p>Bausley reportedly refused to exit the car and held a knife to his neck before officers took him into custody.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for a superficial wound to the neck and a stab wound to his abdomen.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday night, the Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Department confirmed that Bausley remains in the hospital for treatment and evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>His vehicle was transported to the Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Department and is being held as part of the Chicago Police Department&#8217;s homicide investigation.<\/p>\n<p>According to a spokesperson for the sheriff\u2019s department, once charges are filed by the Chicago Police Department regarding crimes committed in Illinois, the suspect will be extradited.<\/p>\n<p>Scene of where Amber Alert suspect was arrested on I-65 in Indiana.<\/p>\n<h2>What They&#8217;re Saying<\/h2>\n<p>Friends and family\u2014in shock by the overnight events that turned their lives upside down\u2014are now remembering Teone Jones and the light she brought with her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She was one of a kind,&#8221; said Ashley, a friend of the victim.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The moment I met her, she was just the sweetest person ever. She was so welcoming,&#8221; another friend, Mario, said.<\/p>\n<p>Mario met Jones when they were freshmen attending Lincoln University, an HBCU in Jefferson City, Missouri.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Teone was just someone you could talk to. She had the best advice; she was just always there. She was very smart,&#8221; Mario said.<\/p>\n<p>Jones, who also graduated from DuSable High School in Bronzeville, was a hair stylist.<\/p>\n<p>Her friend, Ashley, told FOX 32 Chicago by phone that Jones loved to make others feel beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We became close friends \u2013 we were like, inseparable,&#8221; Ashley said of their time together during high school and college. &#8220;We did everything together. We danced together, we cooked together, we cried together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At 33 years old, Jones&#8217; life was taken far too soon. The incident and what followed left loved ones stunned.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It started to get surreal minute by minute,&#8221; Mario said upon learning of the tragic series of events.<\/p>\n<p>Jones&#8217; friends said the suspect, Bausley, was the father of her youngest son.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a difficult reality is setting in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t believe her children are motherless,&#8221; Mario said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a lot to take in.
