A 17-year-old boy was charged Tuesday with multiple felonies in the carjacking of a woman with two young children in East Garfield Park on the West Side.<\/p>\n
The boy, whose name wasn\u2019t released because he is a minor, was charged with felony counts of vehicular hijacking, driving a stolen vehicle, and fleeing police over 21 mph. He was also charged with misdemeanors for child endangerment and identification obstruction, and cited for causing damage to a state highway.<\/p>\n
A 26-year-old woman was sitting in a vehicle with two boys, 1 and 6, in the 2700 block of West Lexington Street about 4:20 a.m. on Monday when she was approached by two males who implied they had a weapon. The woman and 1-year-old were forced out of the vehicle, and, after a short distance, the 6-year-old boy was also forced outside.<\/p>\n
After crashing on the Eisenhower Expressway, one person was arrested, officials said.<\/p>\n
Court details for the boy were not immediately available.<\/p>\n
