Fans Brave Cold Temperatures at Wrigley Field to Watch Big Ten Hockey

A Unique Experience

Fans of Big Ten schools are braving the cold temperatures for a one-of-a-kind experience – watching their school play ice hockey at Wrigley Field.

Cold but Determined

All loyal Wisconsin Badgers fan Addy Arnold told WGN News all she wants is a victory from her Badgers to keep her warm, as she roots for them with her cousins at the Big Ten Hockey Series at Wrigley Field.

“It’s cold, but you know, hopefully the Badgers will win,” Arnold said. “At least it’s no snow, right?”

Precautions Taken

Though there’s sunshine and clear skies, frigid temperatures are predicted to stay low on Day 2 of the event.

“Once [the sun] sets, it’s going to be a little worse,” Michigan State Spartans fan Ethan Shantz said.

Bundling up is a must to stay warm. Many Big Ten fans were also seen with blankets in hand. Some even took a moment to heat up by the fire pits before heading into the friendly confines.

A True Midwesterner

Other fans, like Chicago native and Spartans fan Emily Kaminsky, don’t let the cold bother them. Like a true Midwesterner, she said the cold is no big deal.

“Honestly, I was expecting worse coming out here. I’m ready. I’ll be able to stand out here for a while,” Kaminsky said.

A Unique Experience for Some

In fact, she and her friends said they are more than happy to endure the cold, as long as they get to see Michigan State keep their No. 1 ranking and beat Wisconsin.

“We don’t have season tickets at MSU, so it’s a unique experience to see them in Wrigley,” Kaminsky said.

A True Hockey Experience

While each fan is cheering for their favorite school to win, they agree the cold temperatures really add to the authentic hockey experience.

Conclusion

The fans at Wrigley Field are a testament to the dedication and passion of Big Ten hockey fans. Despite the cold temperatures, they are determined to make the most of this unique experience and cheer on their favorite teams.
