According to police, a 34-year-old man, identified as Alexander Nesteruk, of Wheaton, approached a group of people on the sidewalk in the area and an altercation broke out among them.

During the altercation, an unknown male pulled out a gun and opened fire on Nesteruk, striking him in the chest, according to investigators.

Victim’s Condition and Passing

Police said Nesteruk was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the gunman ran off. Nesteruk died from his injuries on Monday.
