WEST TOWN — A bar and restaurant dedicated to exclusively showing soccer matches from all over the world is opening this spring in West Town — just in time for the 2026 World Cup.

Soccer House is in the process of taking over the former Twisted Spoke, 501 N. Ogden Ave. The beloved biker bar known for its sprawling whiskey selection closed in August after three decades in business.

Soccer House will show men’s and women’s soccer matches and host related events on weekends and throughout the week, said owner Garret Drexler, who has previously worked for the U.S. Soccer Federation, Chicago Fire and other organizations building fan engagement programs.
Matches will be shown concurrently in three viewing areas, including Soccer House’s main bar, a back room and a rooftop beer garden.
“What we’re building is a place where we can put multiple games on at the same time with independent audio in each space, so that if your team isn’t the most important team playing in that two-hour period, but you’re the second or third most exciting game, there’s still a space for you,” Drexler said.
Operating Hours and Menu
Soccer House will open early for international games — likely 6 a.m. on weekends — and stay open late to show night games from Mexico and elsewhere.
The food menu is still being nailed down, but diners can expect “stadium classics” from around the world as well as special options during big matches. Beer, cocktails and a full cafe menu will be on offer, with breakfast service on weekends.
“How do we lean in on Spain and Barcelona or Madrid and the food cultures that drive their fans there? And how do we bring a little taste of that here?” Drexler said. “There will be times when we’ll lean into special events to bring an event day menu for certain days.”
Launch and World Cup
Soccer House’s launch comes as the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in June across the United States, Mexico and Canada (although Chicago will not host a match). While pop-ups for the tournament are already being announced in Chicago and elsewhere, Soccer House will be a permanent fixture in West Town, Drexler confirmed.
Part of the bar’s goal is to help encourage soccer’s growing popularity in the city.
Chicago has dedicated fan organizations for the Chicago Stars and the Fire — which is about to break ground on a 22,000-seat stadium in the South Loop — plus numerous leagues and other groups.

Drexler envisions Soccer House hosting all kinds of meet-ups and other events. He’s even adding a merchandise shop for new, vintage and supporter-made gear.
“Part of the opportunity that we have with this space is to program those times that aren’t soccer matches with other soccer sorts of events, and things that bring the soccer community specifically together,” Drexler said.
