The Chicago Diner is closing its vegan and vegetarian-friendly Logan Square outpost after 13 years in business. The meat-free diner at 2333 N. Milwaukee Ave. will have its final day of service on Dec. 12, Chicago Diner’s management announced Monday. The diner’s Lakeview location at 3411 N. Halsted St. will remain open.

“We are sad to be leaving a great community and have loved being part of such a unique neighborhood of Chicago, but despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to keep this location open,” the diner’s management wrote in a Monday press release shared on social media. The announcement was signed by founders Mickey Hornick and Jo Kaucher, as well as partner Michael Hornick.
History of the Diner
Initially opening in Lakeview in 1983, the pioneering restaurant has offered vegetarian and vegan versions of diner favorites such as burgers, ice cream floats, Reuben sandwiches, steak and chili while also making brunch classics like biscuits and sausage gravy.
