Introduction to Parson’s Chicken & Fish Closure
ANDERSONVILLE — Parson’s Chicken & Fish is closing its Andersonville location later this month after more than four years in the neighborhood.
Reason for Closure
The restaurant at 5721 N. Clark St. will close Oct. 19, restaurant group Land and Sea Dept. partner Peter Toalson confirmed. Land and Sea Dept. is also the group behind Logan Square’s Lost Lake, Longman and Eagle and Lonesome Rose — which also expanded to Andersonville in 2023.
Background of Parson’s Chicken & Fish
Parson’s, known for its fried chicken and fish and its Negroni slushies, expanded to Andersonville in 2021. It also has locations in Logan Square and Lincoln Park; a location in Ukrainian Village was replaced by a pizza restaurant in 2023.
Details of the Sale
The closure stems from the storefront’s lease being up in November, Toalson said. A real estate listing for the Parson’s location went live in late summer, prompting some neighbors to speculate about the business’ future. Land and Sea has since sold the Andersonville business, Toalson said, but he declined to disclose who the buyer is. The listing included all of the restaurant’s equipment and furniture as well as a transferrable liquor license. The Parson’s name and it’s intellectual property were not included in the sale, Toalson said.
Future of Other Locations
The Logan Square and Lincoln Park restaurants will remain open, Toalson said. “We have so appreciated getting to know and serve so many of you, and have greatly enjoyed our time in our Clark Street space,” the restaurant wrote on social media. “The last five years have gone by quickly, but given us all so many good memories – ones we’ll all cherish forever.”
History of the Storefront
Parson’s was the third restaurant to call the storefront at 5721 N. Clark St. home in recent years. The fried chicken restaurant replaced Stone Fox, which abruptly closed in December 2019 after opening earlier that year. The storefront previously housed Pork Shoppe, which closed in February 2018 after a two-and-a-half-year run.

Conclusion
The closure of Parson’s Chicken & Fish in Andersonville marks the end of an era for the neighborhood, but the legacy of the restaurant will live on through its remaining locations. The sale of the business and the transferrable liquor license will likely pave the way for a new establishment to take its place, bringing new energy and excitement to the area.
